Privacy notice for the Debt Options tool
Last updated 23 October 2026. This notice covers the Debt Options tool only. Our website privacy policy covers the rest of our sites.
Who we are
AMI Financial Solutions Limited (trading as Trust Deed Forum), company number SC533818, 1 Ravenstone Drive, Glasgow, G46 6AL, is responsible for your information. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Who the tool is for
The tool is for adults aged 18 or over who live in Scotland. The debt routes it describes are part of Scots law, and different rules apply elsewhere in the UK. We handle your information under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What the tool does
You enter your debts, income, spending and household details. The tool works out, on your own device, which debt routes in Scotland may be open to you and what each would mean. Nothing you type is sent to us unless you choose one of the two options below.
What we collect, and why
| If you choose | We receive | Why, and our legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send my summary to me | Your email address and your summary: your debts, income, spending, household and assets, and the options shown | To email you the summary, with a copy for our records. Your consent, given by ticking the box |
| Send my summary to an adviser | The same summary, plus your first name, phone number, best time to call and, if you give it, your email address. If you tick "I'm finding this hard to cope with right now", we receive that too | To contact you about your options and prepare for that conversation. Your consent. Because the "hard to cope" box may reveal information about your health, it is optional and we ask for your explicit consent. We use it only to decide how quickly to call you |
When you visit the page, our hosting provider also processes technical information such as your IP address. The tool sets no cookies, loads nothing from other companies' servers, and does not use tracking or advertising tools.
Who handles it for us
These providers help run the tool and act on our instructions. We do not sell your information and do not share it with your creditors.
| Provider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the page and receives adviser requests |
| Supabase | Runs the system that sends your summary email, and limits misuse. It keeps only scrambled codes, deleted after 7 days, never your address or content |
| Resend | Delivers the summary email |
Netlify and Resend are United States companies. Both state that they are certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (the UK-US data bridge), and their agreements include further safeguards approved under UK law. Our email system runs on servers in Germany.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for these periods, then delete it.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Summary copy where you did not ask for an adviser | 6 months |
| Adviser request that does not lead to us working with you | 12 months |
| Adviser request that leads to us working with you | As part of your client file, for the period our regulatory duties require |
| Adviser request held by our form provider | Deleted once we have recorded it, and within 30 days |
How decisions are made
The tool applies fixed rules to the figures you enter to show which routes may be open to you. It does not make decisions about you. It is general information, not advice, and an adviser reviews your situation before any advice is given.
Your rights
You can ask to see your information, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Information travels to and from the tool over an encrypted connection. Email is not always secure, so please keep your summary email safe, because it contains your financial details.
